Great Piece Of Architecture

B: AN IMAGE OF A GREAT PIECE OF ARCHITECTURE

The Pantheon, a building situated in Rome, was rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian in 126 AD after being firstly commissioned by Marcus Agrippa as a temple to all the gods of Ancient Rome. The building inspired me and captured my imagination as it is an amazing feat in both designa and construction. The dome of the Rotunda is perfectly spherical and if the dome was to be reflected to form a sphere, it would only touch the floor in one central position. Furthermore, a myth surrounds the building that it cannot rain inside the Pantheon, despight the whole in the centre of the ceiling. This is untrue, however stems from a simple yet very effective draining system as the floor slants slightly towards the centre, where it drains underground through a grouping of small holes.
